Hearing Loss definitions presented by Paradise and Chico's leading Audiologist

At the Paradise Hearing & Balance Clinics, Inc, the most common form of hearing loss seen in our practice is the gradual loss that occurs as you age (presbycusis). According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 1/3 of Americans between the ages of 65 and 75 and close to 1/2 of those older than 75 have some degree of hearing loss.
Doctors believe that heredity and chronic loud noise exposure are the main factors that contribute to hearing loss over time. Other factors, such as an ear infection (otitis media), can prevent your ears from conducting sounds as well as they should.
Unfortunately, you can't reverse hearing loss. However, you don't have to live in a world of quieter or less distinct sounds. You and your Audiologist or hearing specialist can take steps to improve what you can hear. We are Paradise and
